How to Kick-Start a Moped in German Moped Days
The official description names kick-start as part of the game. Public footage shows one prompt: hold Shift and press W, then let go of Shift when it starts.

I stepped through the MBT clip at the ignition chapter and the CHALLS clip at the workbench prompt. The key is not in the same place on every moped, and the kick itself is the same Shift-plus-W line. I did not add a “kick three times” rule, because neither video says that.
Steps that are on screen
If it has fuel and spark but will not move, german-moped-days.wiki says to check the stand and the brake. That note is a single site. Resetting the character is the same wiki’s advice when the prompt never appears.
- Add petrol and 20 ml of two-stroke oil per litre at the filler cap.
- Simson: key under the left cover. Zündapp: key by the speedometer. Puch: no key.
- Set the fuel tap to ON. RESERVE is the last litre.
- The HUD can show “Choke in”. The footage does not turn that into a cold-start lecture.
- Hold Shift and press W. Release Shift once the engine is running.
- Use E and Q for gears, X for the stand, then roll on the throttle.
Questions people ask
Does every moped start the same way?
The kick input matches. The key location does not. Puch has no key in the tutorial.
